PAGING IN THE NEWS

Breaking News Network got in some trouble in August, 1997, for allegedly intercepting pager transmissions in the New York area. Wireless Week ran an article in December about the court case.

A perported transcript of White House pager traffic was posted to the Internet. More details here.

POCSAG

POCSAG is probably the most popular format for paging transmissions.

Brad Dye has a great page on POCSAG and other paging details.

Deti Fliegl has a page containing software and hardware information related to monitoring POCSAG transmissions.

Yet another web page covering POCSAG reception.

If you have a PC and a soundcard, a program from this webpage might interest you.

FLEX

Motorola has an introduction to paging and has been very successful in marketing their FLEX family of paging protocols.

Texas Instruments produces FLEX decoder chips and makes some FLEX developer documentation available at the bottom of the page here.

An interesting decoding project that people seem to be having some success with can be found here.
